Sweet Candy Cane Santos by Michelle Talley

December is here!  We had some lovely snow yesterday, it always makes me happy! It seems cozier somehow when you are watching the flakes drift down outside your windows. I love to walk in the snow, I like to ice skate, but the sad truth is, I really ice “ fall down “, so now I just watch from the sidelines and drink hot chocolate. I love to see all the Christmas lights, the smell of cookies baking, eating the cookies and then making more…candy canes…and mostly family.

The gathering together with the people you care about. The family you have, and the family you make. Being together, quietly savoring each laugh, smile and smirk. Traditions long held and brand new. I hope you all enjoy this season of joy and peace and love. And remember, nothing that you eat or drink contains calories this month, see, it IS the season of wonder…

My Christmas project starts with goodies from PaperWhimsy:

Amazing Alterables™ Santos Cage Doll

Beautiful Face from Sheet 244 (available printed or as a download)

Amazing Alterables™ Word Banner

Other goodies: red glitter, 1 red button, wide ribbon, narrow ribbon, string, ornate bezel

After assembling the Santos Cage doll, I used ModPodge glue to adhere the glitter. I also used it for the face in the bezel. I cut two pieces of the wide ribbon, and sewed it to make the skirt. I sewed the narrow ribbon bow on her skirt. I glued the “Christmas” on the word banner and used E6000 to glue the banner to her hands. I made a bow from heavy red & cream string, and used the E6000 to glue it and the button onto our Christmas Miss.

I hope you have very merry memories this season, filled with joy and love. And cookies!
