I created this to have the look of something found on a mantle of an abandoned house. I like to mix found objects with newer, faux aged pieces. The clock face was aged with a rust patina to match the found piece of wood. I used old rusty wire on a wire wrapper for the springs.
- Paint or rust the watch face. I used Modern Masters Iron Paint, and Rust Activator (see product links to right in sidebar, available through Amazon).
- Cut the beautiful face to fit the round frame.
- Add a circle of mica over the face to give an aged appearance.
- Add mica flakes to the wings and sand them back for an aged effect.
- Make a circle of beads to glue into the center of the frame.
- Add an edge of rhinestone trim.
- Add white cabochons to top of frame.
- This piece was added to a found piece of wood as a stand. A terrific way to incorporate those treasured found wood pieces you’ve been collecting! Take a walk through your local park to find some flotsam and jetsam if you don’t have a collection, yet. Using found wood in your artworks is exciting!~
