“Tie a string around your finger”. Yahoo answers tells me this keeps an idea tied to oneself and prevents escape. I’ve always heard of it as a way to remember something and while I still don’t know the true origin of the saying, I like the notion of physically holding onto an idea. It’s an unusual, interesting saying and the fingers on the hand of the arm reliquaries needed something to raise the eye up on the piece. They became Remembrance pieces.
This is the fabric collage before it is sewn onto the form.
This fabric collage was hand sewn.
Lay out the fabric and trim to fit the shape before using the holes to sew it on.
METHOD FOR REMEMBER 1 & 2
- Paint arm reliquary color of your choice.
- Insert photo into frame.
- Sew a collage sized to fold over both the front and back of the piece.
- Fold and the sides over the reliquary and sew on using the holes on the side (see photo above).
- For the stand to fit into the slots, you will need to use a scissors to cut out the slot spaces.
- Add rhinestones, ribbons and flower.
METHOD
- Cut a base piece of cloth or stiff stabilizer to fit the pattern of arm reliquary.
- Free embroider using different color threads.
- Sew on beads and rhinestones.
- Paint reliquary.
- Add UTEE to arm and heat. While hot, use a rubber stamp to imprint a design.
- Add image of choice to frame.
- Glue in image and glue on embroidered piece.
- Add rhinestones and ribbons to the hand.
These are indeed wonderful! I adore them all, but fortune is my favorite. I love the distressed gold against the vibrant colors!
