Snips & Snails Altered Shrine Box

Snips and snails…and puppy dogs tails…these little boys have stolen my heart! I love all the beautiful faces in the Paper Whimsy shoppe, but as the Mama of two boy’s (and a girl) these images really tugged at my heart strings. Do little boys tug at your heartstrings too? I would love to see what you create using Sheet 265 or any of the other Handsome Lads in the shoppe. Just post a comment here and link to your art photo!

Supplies:
Bottle Caps
Sheet 265
Perfect Paper Adhesive
Journal Tags

I created the box by covering the inside back of the box with pattern paper. You can use Perfect Paper Adhesive or matte gel. Next, I added the larger image of the boys. On the sides and bottom I added various ephemera, trinkets, buttons and an old key.  You could also choose from several neat Tim Holtz trinkets and adornments recently listed in the shoppe.  Perfect for this project!

On the left side of the box, I added another variation of the boys image, old postage stamps, a brad and ribbon trim.

The exterior sides have bottle caps that you can purchase in the shoppe. I spray painted them using “Rust-oleum” Multicolor Textured paint which gives a rusty textured finish. Smaller versions of the boy image were placed inside (I punched them out with a circle punch.)

On the top of the box I added a journal tag and the quote “When I grow up I want to be a little boy.” – Joseph Heller

This is wonderful! Great choice in papers, images, and embellies!

  4. I love what you have done! I accidentally ordered two of the sheets of the lads and now I have an idea of what I may do! I promise not to take your project literally but you have inspired me.

    Just beautiful.
