Autumn Golds

This is the companion piece, I mentioned in the October newsletter.  The rusty tin tile is mounted on an old book cover.  I have also used the following Paperwhimsy products:

·        Collage Sheet 035

·        Filigree Embellishment

·        Rusty Vine

·        Duo Adhesive

·        Gildenglitz Gold

·        Stippling Brush

·        Rusty Tin Tile

·        Distressed Ink – Vintage Photo

The following is a little mini tutorial on adding paint, Gildenglitz, and antiquing the rusty tin tile.

Step 1

With a sponge or scruffy brush, randomly dab turquoise and sage green acrylic paint on the tile.  Let dry.

Step 2

Apply the Duo Adhesive also in a random pattern, cover some of the paint, and some of the rusty areas.  After waiting the appropriate time, apply the Gold Gildenglitz, rub, and brush off excess. Please see Lucinda’s blog for the wonderful detailed instructions of all the steps of the gilding process.

Step 3

Thin down a small amount of Burnt Umber acrylic paint with water.  Brush the over the entire tile, being sure to get the paint in the recesses.  Lightly wipe off any excess with a paper towel.  Let dry, and it is ready for your favorite sealer or varnish.  It’s now ready to add all those wonderful collage images and embellishments.  Experiment with different colors or paint and Gildenglitz, I bet you can come up with some wonderful effects!

just started working with my rusty metal. fun. love the gold leaf.

  2. Rande, this is gorgeous. Something must be in the air because I worked in turquoise and gold this week also. I love the embellishments and glad to see how you used them because I just received some from Gale a couple of days ago. Thanks for the inspiration!
