Wood Nymph

By Gale Blair

I entered into an enchanted land creating with the new Amazing Alterable™ Wood Nymph.  She took me on a ramble as my idea veered from mossy grassy greens to black and orange.  My Wood Nymph is looking quite resplendent in Autumn hues.  😀   So!  Be it spring, summer, autumn or fall, she fits any season, I think.

I started by spray painting this newest PaperWhimsy Amazing Alterable™ with an antiqued rubbed bronze spray paint.  I left the color visible on her stand and ornate body.

The leafy bits I covered generously, to create a nice texture, with InkaGold in Orange. I added some InkaGold Ice Blue at the bottom of the larger leafy bit to add some shading.  I then scratched both pieces with an awl for more texture and interest.I antiqued both pieces using Distress Ink Re-inker in Rusty Hinge, applying it with a stencil brush to control the amount and keep it soft and feathery.  Just a hint of the lovely red tone to darken the edges of the leaves.

The headdress (which also includes her wings) I’d originally applied Stickles but then decided I didn’t like the look so covered that with generous amounts of InkaGold Orange.  That underlayer of Stickles created a nice base for an interesting texture effect!  Happy Accidents!

I scratched leaf veins into the wings with an awl and then antiqued, again, with Distress Ink Re-inker in Rusty Hinge.

The Face is from the Faces Download Sheet (the larger size from the bottom of the sheet).  I glued the face onto the head oval and then carefully trimmed away the excess paper using a fine grit sandpaper, sanding in a downward motion..

The arms were attached with arm pegs (included) and then I used Viva Pearl Pen to create pearl drops for a nice finish.

I used a jewelry finding from my personal stash to decorate the skirt/bodice and used a small oval piece from Little Ovals Amazing Alterables™.  I textured the oval with Viva Pearl Pen and when dry I applied a quick swipe of InkaGold Orange to bring out the texture.

Et voila!
