Fractured Doll Canvas

I have always had the hankering to create something using these beautiful dolls and was delighted to work with them. I love their simplistic, yet elegant form. The dolls have so many possibilities in art, and I can envision oodles of projects that are calling their name.

Supplies:
Fractured Dolls
Digi Frame Aged Mat Plain
Kraft Glassine Paper
Chipboard
5 x 7 canvas board
ribbon
old buttons
matte gel
old book text
vintage lace remnants
rustic wire
cheesecloth
off white craft paint
E6000 glue

To create this little canvas I used a 5 x 7 canvas board and painted it off white. I added a bit of torn cheesecloth to give some age. A small piece of old book text was added to the canvas with matte gel. I measured my Digi frame in Microsoft Word before printing on to matte photo paper.

I made mine approximately 3 inches wide by 4 ¼ inches tall. Trim the edges of the mat and distress the edges with ink. I cut a piece of plain chipboard to measure the dimensions of the digital mat that was printed. The center was cut out of the chipboard which would allow me to center the mat on top with matte gel. The next layer is an old book cover that had the center cut out with Xacto knife.

These layers were glued over the center of the old book text on the canvas board using E6000 glue. Add the fractured doll to the center with more E6000 glue. Sweet little bits of vintage lace were added and old buttons. I printed the word “Grace” in Microsoft Word and mounted on to a strip of Kraft glassine paper. Small holes were drilled in the top corners and rustic wire was twisted to form a small hanger. Tie a small piece of ribbon on the top.
