Antiquities Egg Diorama

This egg diorama would be a hit at any Easter gathering. Creating it would also be a fun family project. The interior has endless possibilities of gorgeous combinations that could be gathered from the shoppe. Wouldn’t it be fun to create a vignette with several eggs using various beautiful faces?! The finished product is sure to be an heirloom that can be displayed each spring or added to any home as decoration year round.

I created this egg diorama by using a paper mache egg and painted the base with craft paint. Lace was glued to the outside rim, gold trim, and gold tinsel stems using a glue gun.

On the interior, I added gel medium and sprinkled with sparkle and allowed time to dry. Bits of brown crinkled paper were added to the interior of box to create a “nest” feel.

The paper medallion was created using old sheet music and this tutorial. I cut the oval image from Beautiful Faces – Digi Sheet 255 and glued to the center of the music sheet medallion. Little butterflies were cut from Art Bits 06 PNG and I layered them to give a 3-D effect glueing on to the egg.

A base for the egg was created on a 4 inch styrofoam circle that has been covered with moss, and I hot glued lace around the edge of the base. Glue the egg base on to the moss stand using E6000, and secure with a few pins to keep in place while the egg base and moss base dry. A small brad was placed in the center, and a key charm on the moss base.
