This shabby heart felt garland can be created in many different ways. This version uses the gorgeous Bronte Blooms in Pink, the yummy Precious Wool Felt Pack, lace, buttons and beads.
I traced rosy and soft pink hearts out on to the felt using this template:
Heart Garland and Pin Template Set aside the cream felt for the heart backing.
Gale shared her distressed felt recipe with me for this project. Cut your shapes out. Fill the kitchen sink with hot sudsy (use dish soap) water. Take the felt pieces and wash in the sudsy water rubbing to get them “nubby”. Rinse in warm water. Place pieces in the dryer with a towel.
When hearts are dry, add lace remnant pieces to center. Attach using fabric glue or hand stitch. Add buttons and beads as embellishments. Place pink heart on to cream felt and handstitch along edges. I used deckle edge scissors to trim the cream felt along the edges. Attach a Bronte Blossom to the center of each heart. Cut two long strands of cream ribbon allowing tails to hang your garlande. Space out hearts on ribbon evenly, and add little stitches (or glue) to back of each heart securing ribbon as you go. Tie two long streamer bows from cream ribbon on the end of each side.
This garland could also be made using sweet Paper Whimsy faces for another charming look. Hang your garland on the mantle, from a shelf, on the china cabinet, or wherever your little heart desires.

These would make charming chair hangers! Make each one about 20-24 inches, put a loop at each end, and drape on the back of a ladder back chair.
