Pastel Crackled Angels

 

Here are three sweet little angels that are easy to make, and can be used for several different projects.  I originally made them as ornaments, but found that they look great on a Holiday card or fancy gift tag.  I bet you can come up with even more ways to use them.  Over the next few weeks, I’ll try to post a few easy to make holiday decorations, and some book suggestions for gift giving.

Distressed Crackle Paint

GildenGlitz – Gold

Craft Knife

• Cut the two pattern pieces from coated cardboard.  If the cardboard does not have a coating you can apply a coat of gesso and let dry. 
• Lay the body on top of the wings and draw a glue/paint line. 
• Select two coordinating crackle paint and apply to body and wings of angel.  Let dry, at least a few hours, or you can use a heat gun to speed up the process.  See directions, for the amount of crackle to use for small, medium, or larger cracks.  You may want to do some test pieces to get the feel of the paint.

 

 

• When crackle paint has dried, apply Duo Adhesive to the head and neck areas, along the bottom of the dress area a little ways from the edge, and around edges of the wings.  Wait the directed amount of time and apply the Gildenglitz.
• With the stippling brush, use the Distress Ink and age all the edges of the angel.
• Trim the face image and apply with glue.
• Cut a slit using a craft knife at the shoulder area for ribbon.
• Insert ribbon, and glue in place.
• Add brass charm, or other embellishment on top of the ribbon.
• Glue Prima flower towards the bottom of dress, and glue a pearl bead in the center.
• At this point, if you want to use the angel as an ornament, you will want to trace the outline on decorative paper for back, and cut out.
• Bend the Rusty Ivy vine in almost a circle and align with the head.  Glue in place.
• At this point you can add a ribbon or cord and decorative backing for an ornament.

 

You could put the two pattern pieces together to cut one piece, but the two pieces give the angel a little dimension, and strength.

You can also change the sizes according to you project for printing.
