Steampunk Queen

April showers may bring May flowers, but it also rained on The Steampunk Queen a bit more than she liked. She is a delightfully bizarre creature! You see, she’s had a bit of work done, a few replaced parts and pieces, just to keep herself in the game. She is a bit rusty, and she is wound up, but she is okay with that, as she would rather roll than walk….

This might be my favorite project, but then again, it is always fun to see where the Amazing Alterables™ will take us!

Here is a list of supplies from PaperWhimsy used for this “get around girl”!

Steampunk Queen on Wheels

Goth/Faerie sheet 004– face and hat

Digi 071 & Digi 082– dress

Other supplies: VerDay Paint – Iron, Metal Effects Aging Solution, Paper leaf and black crystal flat, Ball chain, Wind up key, Ornate brass wing, Upholstery tacks, Rosary chain, Ornate brass charm, Assorted watch components, Paris watch button, ModPodge, E6000, SuperGlue

I had to start by painting all of the bits and parts of the queen with the Iron VerDay paint, front and back. You have to let the base coat dry for an HOUR!!!! The nerve, sorry, I am an instant

gratification kind of girl, but this finish is worth the wait! Once it is dry, you go over it again, and then apply the aging solution, and soon the magic happens! I cut the hat off the Goth girl, and used the ModPodge to glue it to the hat piece, then glued her face. That somehow just sounds wrong…I embellished her hat, and used the E6000 to glue the hat on.

After the aging solution did it’s thing, and everything was dry, I used the Modpodge to glue her dress (background and the medallion). After using the E600 to assemble the Queen, I used the wheels and gears to give her a more mechanical feel. I used the large gear on the back of her head, I gave her and extra gear/wheel on the base. I used upholstery tacks on the top of the arms, and watch crowns at the elbows and again with gears, at the top of her skirt. I used a combo of E6000 and Superglue to attach all. I used the E600 to attach the the wind up key and her wing, and also the small bit of chain.

And that my friends is how this divinely odd creature came to be. Time rolls on, and so does she…just watch out for those May showers!

See you in June!
