Spring is now starting to reveal itself and was my Inspiration for this Piece. ~* Fidelis *~ Faithful was made by Using the Back of an Artist Canvas to Create a 3 Dimensional Bit of Fun and Whimsy. Using very Simple Techniques, you can make these Leaves and Blossom Elements from Scratch. Lets Get Started have some Fun!
Technique:
(1) Print a Background on Regular Copy Paper. (I used 2 full sheets for a 8×10 Canvas) I wanted to Create some Texture so I Crumbled my Paper into a Ball until I got the wrinkled look I wanted. Flip your Canvas over so the Wood Framed Back is Up.Using Matte Gel Medium, Adhere your Background Paper making sure your sheet is Large Enough to Wrap around to the Back of the Canvas Encompassing all edges of the wood as well as the Inner Portion of the Canvas Back . I Then applied a Top Coat to Seal and give Brush Stroke Texture . Set aside to dry.
(2)To Create the Leaves I used Cloth Covered Wire(20 gauge) for my stem. Using a Leaf Paper Punch, Punch out Multiple Pairs of Leaves (or use your own pattern). ( I used Book Pages ) Sandwiching Wire Stem between 2 Leaves using Matte Gel Medium. Use a Brayer to smooth and Flatten Leaf. Set aside to Dry.
(3)The Flowers Were Created by using 2 Scalloped Paper Punches of Varying Sizes. Using a Length of Cloth Covered Wire, Loop it through a Button for your Flower Center and Stem. Then Push End of Stem through Multiple Layers of Paper Punched Blossoms. Fluff to Create Bloom and Glue Bottom Blossom to Stem( I used my Trusty Glue Gun) Set Aside
(4) Next, take your Canvas and Using Matte Gel Medium , Adhere a Paper Lace Doily. Continue to add Your Background Images and Word Art, finishing with your Beautiful Face Image.
(5)Now for the Finish, arrange your Leaves around the out Frame of your Canvas and Glue. (I used my Glue Gun again Here) Next weave in the Wire Ribbon with Tiny Rafia Bows to give it a Viney Look. Add your Flower Blooms, a Shredded Paper Nest and a Bird and You are Done!!

Hi Carolyn
She is Raised and I Like that she Casts a Shadow!
I like to use Heavy Card Stock (100 lb Cover) because I can actually shape the Paper with my Fingers to give the figure a rounded appearance.
Hope this Helps you!
