There is a crisp feel of autumn in the air…and Gale has created these darling Boo Bunting digisheets and companion kit to get you in the mood for the season! There are several spooktacular designs now available in the shoppe from which to choose. And keep your eyes peeled for more new sheets coming soon.
Technique:
I cut three 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ backgrounds from the amazing Studio Cloth (there is enough Studio Cloth in the kit for three backgrounds – perfect for your BOO Banner) and painted with a mixture of tan craft paints. What’s so fantastic about Studio Cloth is that it does not curl or roll when you cut and paint it.
Once the base paint dried, I used a darker shade of brown to added the weathered look. Simply tear off a small piece of plastic wrap and wad it up so it has crinkles. Blot the plastic wrap in the dark brown paint and dab on to the canvas pieces. You can set little black eyelets into each corner on your bunting pieces or sew a small hem along the top.
Cut the Digi Sheet 270 letters out and distress edges with ink.
Cut out Digi Sheet 271 and distress edges with ink. I added black glitter to the bats. The edges of the pennant had glitter also added to them.
Glue a letter to the center of each bunting shape, or use Dimensional Glue Dots for a 3-D effect. Glue pennant shapes to inside of canvas. I used a tacky fabric glue to do this, set wax paper over the pieces and placed heavy books on top. Allow time to dry, and your bunting will be nice and flat.
I had a major mishap when tea staining the lace. I dyed the lace using tea, but needed it to dry faster so I placed it in the microwave. My ADHD art brain walked away and sat to eat my lunch in the other room. Minutes later my husband went running into the kitchen to see the lace and bowl on fire inside the microwave. A total loss. A word to the wise…*do not dry lace in the microwave*! A true DUH moment on my part.
Glue lace to the bottom of each bunting piece using tacky glue or E6000. Add black pom pom trim by gluing over the lace edge. Glue black sequins on trim.
String bunting pieces on twine, ribbon, string and tie ribbons in between each bunting piece and on the ends.
You now have an adorable Boo Bunting that is sure to be a spooktacular hit this autumn season! I’d love to see what you create with these banner pieces!
