My heart is all a flutter because of Tim Holtz and Configurations. The boxes are amazing and there are oodles of configurations and creations that could be made. “Petite Antiquities” is a collection of charms, trinkets and treasures. I painted the edges of the boxes in an Antique White craft paint and then used a watered down Honeycomb shade to give it the aged appearance.
Once the paint was dry, I started collaging the boxes inside using Antiquities 01 JPG sheet that was printed on to matte photo paper with gel matte medium. I collected some little treasures and trinkets: Madame Delphine’s Charms 02, Glass Vials, Bottle Charms, beads, buttons, heart charm and a butterfly from Art Bits 06 PNG which was collaged to the back of one of the boxes and a second layer was added that has been coated with glitter.
The bird nest was made using this tutorial:
Birds Nest Tutorial and eggs were made using Sculpey Ultra Light. Roll into oval shapes, bake and once cool paint in a dark aqua and distress eggs with a honeycomb color.
Once my interior boxes were done, I collaged the outside main frame. Just cut your digital sheets into measurements from the box…I distressed my edges with ink. Sometimes you might have to take off small smidgens as you go, but it truly is a painless process of collage and the project is super fun!
Creating a petite antiquitie is sure to make your heart flutter too!

Love, love it!!
I’ve seen these boxes, and I thought about buying some, but you’ve convinced me I have to. Beautiful!
what a warm and beautiful composition!
Where could I find those boxes? I’d love to make a “fairie” box for my daughter’s b/d coming up soon. Awesome as always. Such inspirations.
We have Michaels and Hobby Lobby in Grand Junction.
This is so whimsical and wonderful! I’m going to get me some of those boxes!
