A short while ago, the Paperwhimsy forum had a Canvas Back Swap.\u00a0 I loved doing the project, and wanted to make another, a little larger.\u00a0 Here I used a gallery wrapped canvas, sized 8×8.\u00a0 One of the discussions we had during the swap, was how we would cover the back frame, and in some cases hide the canvas edges and\/or staples.\u00a0 As I was looking around, I ran across this Rusty Ceiling Tile<\/a>, and it was the perfect size.<\/p>\n

I was able to easily cut the center out of the ceiling tile with tin snips.\u00a0 I left about 1\/2 inch along the inside frame.\u00a0 Then clipped to the corners.\u00a0 On a sharp edge, I hammered that edge flat, to the back of the tile.\u00a0 This leaves a nice smooth edge.<\/p>\n

I randomly painted the the canvas and ceiling tile with a mix of cream and light aqua acrylic paint.\u00a0 Before it was dry, I wiped it off with a paper towel, leaving paint in the crevases.\u00a0 I also added a bit of brown ink around the edges.<\/p>\n

I selected Miss Anastasia Plum from the new Collage Sheet #176<\/a>.\u00a0 Then glued to a piece of cardboard, sized to fit the back opening, covered with scrapbook paper.\u00a0 A few velvet leaves, and bare twigs, and the inside was finished.\u00a0 On the bottom of the frame, I added a small scrap of scrim fabric, and a rusted label holder.\u00a0 Add a hanger on the back, and it’s ready for display.<\/p>\n
